Sub-contractors furious over pay delays by Daniel Contractors

Daniel Contractors which has a turnover of £160m have angered their workers and subcontractors after continuously failing to pay wages on time.

Several staff working for Daniel Contractors have complained to the Construction Enquirer that they have not been paid.

It is also understood that Plant hirers have removed  machinery from a large job on the Isle of Grain where Land and Marine, also owned by Daniel Contractors, is building a major liquid gas pipeline.

A source said: “The workers are cabined up and nothing seems to be happening.”

“Another senior site source working for Daniel Contractors said workers were not paid this week on a job for Bristol Water”.

The timing of these delays couldn’t be any worse as the staff and their family must have been looking forward to the bank holiday weekend.

A source told the Construction Enquirer: “The main problem seems to be with Daniel Contractors and its framework agreements with water companies like United Utilities and Welsh Water.”

Last week workers on the Isle of Grain site for National Grid also complained of not being paid on time.

A spokeswoman for the group said the workers were eventually paid following a glitch in the payment system.
